Honoring the Classics: Singer Classic Study Based on Porsche 911 964 Unveiled
Renowned American customizer, Singer Vehicle Design’s exclusive representative, Yung San Automotive, recently took part in the 2024 Taipei New Car and New Energy Vehicle Expo. At the event, they revealed the seventh Classic Study creation, the Taiwan Commission, a collaborative project between Singer and a Chinese car owner. Singer Vehicle Design specializes in restoring and reimagining classic Porsche 911 models, and our website visited the auto show to provide a detailed glimpse of this unique industrial art piece.
Exterior: The Singer Classic Study is based on the 1991 Porsche 911 chassis with the model code 964. It underwent a transformation, refurbishment, and received carbon fiber exterior panels. Adorned in Singer Racing Silver paint, the exterior maintains the graceful and classic curves of the original vehicle, enhanced by mist silver window frames and Olive Green Porsche lettering on the sides.
Interior: The cabin retains classic Porsche 911 elements, featuring Olive Green leather and suede with snow-white stitching. Lightweight carbon fiber racing seats are paired with a seat surface showcasing square patterns and adorned with brass accents. The interior transformation is completed entirely by hand, representing a masterpiece of industrial art.
Powertrain: Under the hood, the car is equipped with a 3.8-liter air-cooled flat-six engine, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission. Singer’s signature design elements, such as the exposed aluminum alloy fuel tank cover in the center of the front compartment and the side oil filler cap, are incorporated throughout, showcasing the craftsmanship of Singer Vehicle Design.
The first Classic Study creation draws inspiration from the air-cooled Porsche 911 from the 1970s and made its official debut at the 2009 Monterey Car Week. Singer Vehicle Design pays tribute to the late Porsche engineer Norbert Singer and is led by founder Rob Dickinson, a British singer-songwriter, who focuses on customizing and restoring Porsche 964 models. Yung San Automotive, the exclusive representative for the Chinese market, has recently started offering order services for interested consumers in the region, with deliveries subject to waiting times due to high demand.
